What is Rex Yacht Share?
Our concept is simple! Many boaters lack the time to use their boats enough to reconcile the costs of sole-ownership, and the obligations to properly care for their boats. Rex Yacht Share was developed to resolve both shortcomings while offering unsurpassed value to boaters.
We gather together groups of like-minded individuals that want to have access to a luxury yacht or boat, but not the obligations and expense of ownership. A Rex Yacht Share entitles you to more than 40 uses per season. Sole owners of yachts average far less than this amount. But, unlike a sole owner, you are sharing costs with other Yacht Share Members. This allows you to substantially reduce costs and also have a larger, nicer, yacht or boat.
As a member you will equitably share use of a fully serviced and professionally cleaned vessel utilizing an online reservation and scheduling system. Rex Yacht Share features a weekly maintenance schedule, so each time you cruise the beautiful Long Island waterways you can be certain that your boat will be in top condition.
A new Boat Every 3 Years
The needs of most boaters changes every few years. Rex Yacht Share understands that. After 3 years, RYS will sell the boat, with the net sale proceeds going the yacht owner and the members of that yacht. This will return to the parties a substantial portion of their initial RYS membership cost, in addition, the members have enjoyed annual costs 50% to 75% less than sole-ownership.

Yachtsman Training Program
Every member in the RYS program will be an experienced boater who has successfully completed a vessel orientation, a comprehensive checkout cruise, and when necessary, additional on-water instruction to sharpen up specific skills areas as listed below with a USCG Licensed Captain:

As well as dozens of other important subjects and a complete vessel orientation covering engines, major systems and controls. The skipper or crew members will receives a sign off once the instructor and member agree to his or her readiness.
How do I schedule my time?
There are dozens of opportunities to use your shares each season. Your share will be based on a 4 or 5 week rotation depending on the number of members per share. You can schedule out a year in advance! Of course there are specific rules in place to keep others from monopolizing the most popular times. Get together on this with your boating friends and share this opportunity with them all. There are so many benefits to this program, they will likely want to join too!
What else do I need to know?
Rex Yacht Share is a great opportunity for the experienced boater who may have left boating after the kids got big or who did not have the time. All members, regardless of prior experience, will have the opportunity to spend ample time on the water with a licensed captain who will help you with the proper berthing and safe operation of your chosen yacht share. Your membership includes all costs associated with storage, maintenance, detailing, insurance, sea tow and marina costs, etc.
